Our goal at Thompson Junior High is to offer a broad based athletic program by encouraging all students to participate in various intramural and interscholastic activities.  The coaches and the staff hope to accomplish the following:

1. Develop the fundamental skills in each sport.
2. Develop the team concept.
3. Develop an enjoyment for athletic competition.
4. Maintain academic success- most sports have an athletic study hall.

Interscholastic Sports Offered

Interscholastic sports allow athletes to compete against other schools, and include both home and away events. There is a $30 participation fee for each sport that you participate in, up to a $60 maximum per school year. A current sports physical must be on file with the nurse, and a completed participation waiver must be turned in to the coach before an athlete can practice or tryout.

Expectations

We, at Thompson Junior High, are proud of all of our students. We expect the following:

1. Behavior - Always act in an appropriate manner.  Treat others with respect.
2. Eligibility -

   In order to be eligible, on a weekly basis, an athlete must not have an "F" in any one class or two "D's" in any two classes as calculated by his/her teachers as a current grade.

   Grades are checked each Friday to determine eligibility for participation in the following calendar week.

3. Attitude - Show respect for officials.  Inappropriate, vulgar, or argumentative language will not be tolerated.
4. Appearance - Hair is neat and off the collar.  Neatly dressed before and after the game. 
5. Bus - No food or drink is allowed on the bus.  Stay seated at all times.
