About the Administration

Philip D. Chapman, Principal

Phil has been married to Shari for 10 years, and they currently live in Oswego.  They have been blessed with 3 gorgeous daughters who melt their Daddy’s heart!

Allison is 8 years old and enjoying the 3rd grade, while Mattie is 6 years old and exploring school for the first time.  Molly is the baby who just turned 2!

Phil first entered the doors of East View Elementary in 1998 as a student teacher while attending Northern Illinois University.  After graduating from N.I.U. that spring, he accepted a job as a Youth Pastor in Bloomington, MN where he served for just 1 short year.  Phil quickly found his heart being pulled back to the gymnasium where he enjoyed teaching basketball and cartwheels to smiling kiddos.  Ironically, a position opened up at East View and he was thrilled to hear he was selected for the job.

Phil then put his love for technology to work by serving as the Internet Services Manager for District 308 from 2002-2005.  He is thankful for his experience in that position as it provided him with a global view of the district as well as a greater respect and understanding for the community as a whole.    However, his love for children led him back into the elementary building, but this time as an Assistant Principal.  He has served in this capacity at Old Post Elementary as well as East View Elementary.

Southbury Elementary will be Phil’s new home, and he is so proud to be the leader of such an amazing group of students, parents, and staff.  He is anxious to meet each and every parent and student who will make Southbury their home.  He looks forward to all of the exciting things that are ahead for not only Southbury Elementary, but District 308 as a whole.  Phil will continue to embrace the district's philosophy of having high academic expectations with a caring school climate.

Jennifer Aughenbaugh, Assistant Principal

I was first hired as a special education teacher in Villa Park District 45, where I taught a multi-needs inclusive program for seven years at Ardmore Elementary.

My next position was in Oswego.  I was hired at Fox Chase, where I had the chance to begin the Learning Disability Resource Program there.  I taught LD for three years at Fox Chase.  I also taught the extended school year for one summer in Naperville 203 at Naperville North where I taught a self-contained program with children with severe mult-needs.  I have also done private tutoring for many years for students with disabilities.

My most recent placement was at Old Post Elementary.  I taught at Old Post for three years as an LD Resource Teacher.  While at Old Post, I was also the Elementary LD Department Leader for Oswego 308.

I received my masters degree from the University of St. Francis.  My bachelor degree is in Special Education, Learning Behavior Specialist, with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education from Illinois State University.
