Message from the Principal

September 4, 2009

Dear Southbury Sharks,

We are very excited about everything happening at Southbury Elementary school.

The mission of Southbury is to inspire, engage, ignite and educate.  This mission helps us to focus on what is important.  We want to prepare each Shark for today, tomorrow and for the rest of their life!  We strongly believe that we have the privilege, with the partnership of the parents/guardians, to develop a strong foundation in each child's life.  We love the opportunity to educate your child and to help him/her learn how to learn.  It is an honor that we do not take lightly.

One of the biggest things that we are focused on for the 2009-2010 school year, is to get as many of the families involved in the everyday activities at Southbury Elementary school.  To do this, we have developed a Volunteer Program.  This program is being led by a volunteer, Cat O'Brien.  We have hundreds of people who have asked to volunteer for one thing or another already!  It is very exciting because we (the school) not only get more accomplished, but you also get the opportunity to be involved with the people that help your child nearly seven hours every day of the week!  To let us know that you are interested in becoming a volunteer, we ask that you fill out our Volunteer Form: Click here for the form

Make it a great year!

Philip D. Chapman
Principal
