I have been teaching in District 308 since 1977. I live in Oswego
with my husband, Steve; our son, Erik, a student at University of
Missouri; and our cat, Daisy. During my free time at home, you may
find me reading mystery novels, playing my flute, or grading the
many sets of papers my students complete each day.
In my classroom, I encourage responsibility by sending home small
homework assignments that allow children to practice and review
previously taught work. I hope your child will establish a routine
at home that will carry on throughout his/her school years.
Self-esteem is also an area I strongly stress. In our classroom,
mistakes are OK. I encourage students to always do their best and
that it's OK if they don't remember an answer or answer incorrectly.
These are known as learning opportunities, and I hope to be
introducing your child to many of them.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

I am so excited about teaching second grade at Southbury! I have
worked with second grade students over the past few years and I am
thrilled to be having my own classroom this year.
I attended Oswego schools and am so lucky to be able to teach in the
wonderful town where I grew up. I graduated from North Central
College in Naperville where I also played soccer for three years. In
my free time I enjoy jogging, scrapbooking, and spending time with
my niece and nephews.
It is my goal to create a classroom environment where students are
actively involved in the learning process. I want my students to be
excited about learning and become confident problem solvers.
I look forward to meeting all of you and can't wait to start our new
year together as second grade Sharks!
