Fifth Grade
CATHY MEWMAW

I received my Bachelor's degree from the University of Tulsa, and my Master's degree from Aurora University. I am the mother of three children ages 15, 13 and 6, and the step-mom to two, ages 17 and 15. I am also the wife of a golf- loving husband, Doug.
I just completed my 4th year at East View. My favorite educational philosopher, Maxine Green says, "There is always possibility", and I embrace this thought. For each child, in each subject, every year, there is always possibility. I look forward to unlocking all of the possibilities for your children in the upcoming year.

Hello and welcome to a new year! My name is Mrs. Tweedy (not spelled like the bird!) and I am looking forward to a most awesome year as your fifth grade teacher. Wowee zowee! I bet you can’t believe you are about to embark upon your last year as an elementary student. It’s true… time does fly when you’re having fun!
At this time, I’d like to share some information with you about myself and my history as an educator. Currently, I live in Oswego with my wonderful husband Robb, my two children Aidan and Elle, and my loveable and very fluffy housecat Gabriella the Princess. We moved to Oswego two years ago and have truly enjoyed becoming a part of the welcoming and friendly spirit that makes up the community.
Academically, I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Teaching & Learning, specializing in Elementary Education. Both degrees are from DePaul University in Chicago.
As for my experience, this is my eleventh year teaching and my third year teaching fifth grade. As part of my philosophy of education, I firmly believe that a child receives the best possible learning experience when parents, teachers and students work together as a team. This philosophy has held true for me since day one and has served as a foundation for establishing and nurturing a positive classroom environment conducive to learning. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, exercising and of course, spending time with my family. I am truly looking forward to working with you this year and can’t wait to begin what promises to be both a fulfilling academic experience and a rewarding and memorable year!
