My name is Heidi Podjasek and I am the Principal at Prairie Point Elementary School.  I am so proud to serve the students and parents of the Prairie Point Community.  Please call or visit me in the office if I can assist you in any way.

I received my undergraduate degree in Education in 1999 and a Master of Arts in Teaching in 2001, both from Aurora University.  During this time I taught 7th Grade Language Arts, Reading, Social Studies, and Gifted Education in Lockport and Shorewood.  I obtained my administrative certification in 2002 and was the Assistant Principal at Fox Chase for the 2006-2007 school year, and was appointed principal at Prairie Point in 2008-2009.  In May of 2009, I received my Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University.

I live here in Oswego with my husband, David, and our two cats Dolly and Skipper.  I spend the time I'm not at school reading, shopping, and doing crafts.  My true passion is education and kids.  I love everyday that I get to spend working with, and for, children.  I am honored to be a part of the Oswego School District and a member of the Prairie Point family.

My name is Katy Schafermeyer, and I am the Assistant Principal at Prairie Point Elementary School. I am thrilled to be a part of your child’s elementary school experience in such a dynamic, exciting school district! I began my career in elementary education at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1993. As part of my student teaching, I had the unique experience of living and teaching in Brisbane, Australia for a semester in 1993. In the Fall of 1994, I began teaching fifth grade at East View Elementary School. I taught fifth grade at East View for four years, while completing my Master of Science in Education at Northern Illinois University in 1999. I had the opportunity to then work with my esteemed colleagues as the Assistant Principal at East View for two years. I also helped to open The Wheatlands Elementary School as Assistant Principal and worked with the Boulder Hill Elementary School community as Assistant Principal for three years before assisting with the opening of Prairie Point. My husband, Jeff, my children Ben (6) and Hannah (4), and I live in Yorkville, where we have lived for 12 years. We love the out of doors: hiking, canoeing, bicycling, and camping! We travel to Southern Illinois several times a year to enjoy leisure time in the Shawnee National Forest and Giant City State Park where we rock climb, bicycle and do all sorts of adventurous things! Both Mrs. Podjasek and I hope that Prairie Point serves as a wonderful place for your child to learn, grow and succeed!
