Art
The elementary art program will place emphasis
upon the development of the individual as a creative and visually literate
person. Through the teaching of Art Criticism, Art History, Aesthetics,
and Art Production, the students will gain an appreciation of art, discover how
art reflects past and present cultures, and learn art techniques and processes.
Art is a necessary part of the development of the elementary child and will be
taught by an Art Specialist in a separate art room.

Music
Throughout the
district, elementary students receive music instruction by a music
specialist in first through fifth grade. Music is taught in 30-minute
sessions twice per week. Each grade utilizes different songs and activities
to meet the
Illinois Learning Standards for the Fine Arts-Music.
Students sing and play various classroom instruments including drums, bells
and xylophones. At the end of each quarter, your child will receive a grade
for music based on their skills and participation effort.
Clint Hafenrichter teaches Music at Prairie
Point.
Physical Education
Our goal is to provide an orderly and natural development of
the understanding of the human body and function. Through knowledge of skills
and strategies, dance and creative activities, personal health/fitness plans,
participation in group and individual sport activities, students will come to
understand their own potential and recognize their own limitations. Our
overall aim is to provide participation and allow for the greatest possible
development of each individual.
