As the principal of Plank Junior High School, it is a sincere privilege to be part of the pirate community. Since moving to Oswego with my family in the Spring of 2011, I have been fortunate enough find myself surrounded by a terrific faculty and support staff, as well as dedicated families and students looking for the best education possible.
I was born and raised in Allentown, PA, and earned my bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, Social Studies, from The Pennsylvania State University. I furthered my education by earning a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Over the past two decades I have had the opportunity to develop my career in teaching, coaching, and administration in the states of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Arizona.??
My wife and I have been blessed with three beautiful children. Our children all attend schools within Oswego 308. During our time in the area, I have witnessed first-hand the sense of community and pride that people have in our school district. I look forward to working alongside you as we enter into another amazing school year filled with growth, achievement, and fun for our Plank students.
I am Ashley Meyers one of the assistant principals at Plank Junior High School. Prior to coming to Plank, I served as a Special Education Coordinator in West Chicago. My career in special education has allowed me to teach K-12 and in many different settings. I have also had the opportunity to take on multiple leadership roles throughout my career. My belief is that building strong collaborative relationships is essential in fostering a positive learning community and helping meet the needs of all students.
I received my Bachelors in Special Education from Northern Illinois University. I then obtained my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, with an additional Special Education Directors Endorsement from the University of St. Francis.
Before beginning my career in education, I served in the United States Army. While stationed in Korea, I met my husband of 18 years. We have 3 amazing children, Josh, Blake and Natalie whom are very involved with extra-curricular activities. I coached youth sports for several years and recently decided to take the sidelines to just be a fan for my children. When we are not at athletic events, we enjoy kayaking, canoeing, fishing and anything outdoors. Our home is quite the zoo, literally. We have various types of geckos and snakes, as well as 2 dogs.
I am truly honored to be part of the Plank community and look forward to another successful year!
I am very excited to be in my third year at one of the best schools in the district. Plank Junior High has exceptional staff, parents, and students that truly work together to enhance the overall educational experience.
I have had the opportunity to work at four different schools on my educational journey. My experiences started at Shabbona Middle School in Morris for seven years as a health and P.E. teacher. I coached baseball and basketball at the seventh and eighth grade level. I was then hired at Oswego High School, where I taught P.E. and health and coached basketball for both Thompson Junior High eighth grade and Oswego High School freshman. In 2005, I became Chair of the Kinetic Wellness department. I spent three years at Oswego East High School as Dean of Students before coming to Plank.
I grew up in Effingham, Illinois and received my bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. I received a master’s degree in administration from St. Francis University in 2005.
My wife and I were married in March 1997 and have been blessed with three children: Cole, 14, Keegan, 8, and Kenzie, 7. My wife, Kim, works as a Dean at Minooka High School and is the glue that keeps our family together.
I look forward to getting to know all of you through our many experiences at school. I also look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence here at Plank Junior High.
