As the new principal of Plank Junior High School it is a sincere privilege to become part of the pirate community. My family and I came to Oswego during the spring of 2011 from Tucson, AZ, where I worked most recently as a high school principal.
I was born and raised in Allentown, PA, which is located north of Philadelphia, PA. I graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, Social Studies and furthered my education by earning a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. I have had the opportunity to further my experience in teaching, coaching, and administration in the states of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Arizona.
My wife, Gina, and I have been blessed with three beautiful children. Two of whom currently attend Churchill Elementary School in Oswego. During our time in the area, I have witnessed first hand the sense of community and pride in our school district. I look forward to an amazing school year filled with growth, achievement, and fun for our Plank students.

Welcome Pirates! My name is Ashley Meyers, and it is with great excitement that I am joining the Plank team as one of your Assistant Principals. I look forward to working with our Oswego Community to help all learners reach their fullest potential. Prior to coming to Plank I served as a Special Education Coordinator in West Chicago. My educational career began in the Batavia where I taught K-5 special education resource and self-contained. I then moved to Plainfield School District where I again taught 6 through 8 grade resource and self-contained special education. I also started a vocational/transition program at Batavia High School. I have taken on multiple leadership roles throughout my career. My belief is that building strong collaborative relationships is essential in fostering a positive learning community and helping meet the needs of all students.
I received my Bachelors in Special Education from Northern Illinois University. I then obtained my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, with an additional Special Education Directors Endorsement from the University of St. Francis.
On a personal note, I have 3 amazing children, Josh, Blake and Natalie whom are very involved with extra-curricular activities. I too love sports and coach youth softball and cheerleading. My husband and I met while serving in the Army in Korea, and have been happily married for 17 years.
When we are not at athletic events, we enjoy kayaking, canoeing, fishing and anything outdoors. Our home is quite the zoo, literally. We have various types of geckos and snakes (which we breed), as well as 2 dogs Nikita and Bella.
I am truly honored to be a Plank Pirate and look forward to a successful year for all!

I am very excited to be in my third year at one of the best schools in the district. Plank Junior High has exceptional staff, parents, and students that truly work together to enhance the overall educational experience.
I have had the opportunity to work at four different schools on my educational journey. My experiences started at Shabbona Middle School in Morris for seven years as a health and P.E. teacher. I coached baseball and basketball at the seventh and eighth grade level. I was then hired at Oswego High School, where I taught P.E. and health and coached basketball for both Thompson Junior High eighth grade and Oswego High School freshman. In 2005, I became Chair of the Kinetic Wellness department. I spent three years at Oswego East High School as Dean of Students before coming to Plank.
I grew up in Effingham, Illinois and received my bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. I received a master’s degree in administration from St. Francis University in 2005.
My wife and I were married in March 1997 and have been blessed with three children: Cole, 14, Keegan, 8, and Kenzie, 7. My wife, Kim, works as a Dean at Minooka High School and is the glue that keeps our family together.
I look forward to getting to know all of you through our many experiences at school. I also look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence here at Plank Junior High.
