Jodi L. Ancel
The Principal of Old Post Elementary School, Mrs. Jodi Ancel, joined the Oswego school district in the summer of 2005. Mrs. Ancel earned her undergraduate degree from Illinois State University and her graduate degree from Northern Illinois University. She began her career in education as a junior high math teacher. With over 25 years of experience, Mrs. Ancel has taught at both the elementary and middle school levels. She has taught all of the core subjects, technology, and gifted education. Mrs. Ancel founded a program for supporting students who struggled academically and also served 3 years as a Differentiation Specialist. After spending a year as the Assistant Principal at Fox Chase, Mrs. Ancel was promoted to the Principalship at Old Post. Mrs. Ancel is an active member in the Illinois Principals Association (IPA), the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
During the summer of 2013, Mrs. Ancel and her husband John celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They reside in Plainfield with their two sons, Jay and Jake, and their miniature schnauzer, Emma. Among other activities, Mrs. Ancel enjoys reading, watching her high school son play football, and spending time with family and friends.
Dawn J. Marmo
Mrs. Dawn Marmo is the Assistant Principal at Old Post Elementary. She graduated Cum Laude from Northeastern Illinois University in 1997 with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and minor in psychology. In 2001, Mrs. Marno completed my Master’s Degree in Reading from National Louis University, which provided the academia needed for certification as a K-12 Reading Specialist. Later she attended Aurora University and earned a degree in Educational Leadership completing her type 75 Administrative Certification conferred in 2005.
Her teaching career began at Two Rivers HeadStart working with Pre-K students and their families. Following that experience, she taught third and first grades at St. Mary’s in Plano. Upon completion of her Reading Specialist certification, she taught in Kaneland School District for nine years working with K-5 students who needed reading support at North/John Stewart and McDole Elementary.
Residing in Yorkville with her husband, Joel, and children, Isabella and Vincent, Mrs. Marmo has a kitten, Lola, who joined their family this summer. Mrs. Marmo enjoys scrapbooking, reading, traveling, swimming, and most anything outdoors. She is also a Girl Scout leader for her daughter and 22 Daisy through Junior girls. She is very excited to be in the Oswego School District and part of the wonderful staff and community at Old Post Elementary School!
Mrs. Malnick was born and raised in South Dakota, where she graduated from Dakota State University. She has lived in Illinois with her husband, Greg, for the last 35 years. They have two sons, Nicolaus and Aaron. Nick and his wife Gabrielle have two children, Asher (3) and Audrey (1). Mrs. Malnick began her career in District 308 at Boulder Hill School, first as a teachers’ assistant, and then as the attendance secretary. When Old Post opened in 1997, she became the Principal’s Secretary.
Mrs. Malnick enjoys working with children, parents, and staff. Every day is different, and she enjoys the variety of duties. A sense of humor, a friendly disposition, a joy of being around children, and a need to be able to juggle several tasks simultaneously is a must for her job. Mrs. Malnick also enjoys reading, playing Bunco, board games and cards, taking walks, and lunching with friends. She collects paperweights and angels.
Mrs. Berry is now in her 12th year as the school secretary for Old Post School. Prior to becoming the school secretary Mrs. Berry worked for MetLife Insurance Company as a Life Underwriter for 20 years.
Mrs. Berry was born and raised in Aurora and now lives in Montgomery with her husband Jim, daughter Melissa and son Jake. She enjoys taking long walks with her husband, spending time with her children, taking family vacations and NASCAR racing. She collects Eeyore items and snowmen.
