Daily Announcements for Thursday, March 22, 2012

March 22, 2012

In sports today, the Varsity Softball girls opened up their season March twentieth with a ten to one victory over IMSA. Jessica Clark went the distance on the mound, striking out eleven while scattering four hits. Kelsea Baker led the way with two runs and an RBI. Shianne Williams got two RBIs while Jessy Lofthouse scored three runs. Also hitting for Oswego was Brooke Riess with a triple and Kirsty Tracy with an RBI single. Catcher Brandi Riess threw out a base runner trying to steal and also made a diving catch. Last Saturday the ladies of track competed at the Plainfield North Invitational. Riley Vann won both the pole vault and fifty-five meter hurdles earning her a top spot in the state in both events. Kelsey Hjorth also took second place in the thirty-two hundred meter run with a time that sets her among the top in the state. Ashley Golembeski took third place in the eight hundred meter run, Princess Shodipo took third in the fifty-five meter hurdles, and Rachel Burkhart took fourth in the pole vault scoring for the team. Great job to all the ladies! We would like to wish both Vann and Hjorth luck for this Saturday, when they will compete at Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington at the Indoor Prep Top Times Classic. Any Junior or Senior student that is interested in playing in the Student vs. Staff basketball game on April thirteenth at six p.m., please sign up in Mrs. Wiencek's office. It costs ten dollars to play, which includes the cost of admission and a t-shirt to be worn as the team jersey.
