Message from the Principal
August 18, 2010
Dear Oswego High School Students and Families,
I certainly hope this letter finds you enjoying the precious few remaining days of summer break. We are very excited about the arrival of the 2010-11 school year at Oswego High School and are looking forward to an outstanding year of student success in many areas.
Our two year massive construction and renovation project, which has significantly improved the learning environment at OHS, is nearing completion, with most of the work scheduled to be done by the time classes resume on August 25. The Route 71 improvements, which include the widening of the road and a stoplight at our main entrance, are targeted to be completed by the end of September. This will most likely present some initial challenges, especially at the beginning of the school day, and we therefore encourage students who drive or are being dropped off in the morning to plan to leave home a little earlier due to anticipated congestion.
As we prepare for the beginning of the new school year, we would like to inform you of several important upcoming dates that you probably want to put on your calendar:
- Wednesday, August 18: Required Registration for Sophomores and Seniors from 9:00 am – Noon or from 4:00 – 7:00 pm (Fieldhouse/Door #29)
- Thursday, August 19: Required Registration for Freshmen, Juniors and New Students from 9:00 am – Noon or from 4:00 – 7:00 pm (Fieldhouse/Door #29)
- Tuesday, August 24: Orientation for Freshmen and New Students (6:30 pm in the OHS Main Gym)
- Wednesday, August 25: First Day of Classes (7:30 am – 2:30 pm)
- Wednesday, September 15: Open House/Curriculum Night 7:00 pm
The beginning of a new school year is always an exciting time for students, parents and staff and we are truly looking forward to the opportunity to work with you as we embark on another outstanding year at Oswego High School.
Go Panthers!
With Panther Pride,
Mike Wayne
