February 8, 2010 | School closing information
Snow, ice and cold are sure signs of both the winter season and the persistent questioning of children wondering if a “snow day” is in their future. School closures due to hazardous roadway conditions, extreme cold and other severe weather conditions are determined by 5:30 a.m. Parents will only be notified if school will be closed for the day. Parents should receive this notification by 6 a.m. through the following methods:
1) A phone call to the student’s primary phone number 2) An email to the parent/guardian 3) Information posted on the district Website (www.oswego308.org) 4) A message on the district’s emergency information line at 630-636-INFO (4636) 5) The Emergency Closing Center’s Website at www.EmergencyClosings.com/ecc/search.jsp and 6) Local radio and television stations ...Read More

Even though it is happening to numerous districts across the state, it doesn’t make it any easier. A combination of the state’s funding woes and the drop in local property values has hit the district with a one-two punch to next year’s revenues. January 20, 2010 | Third high school needed to address district growth
The District 308 Board of Education recently agreed to open a third high school for the 2014-15 school year to house our steadily growing student population. Some people have questioned how the Board of Education could possibly afford to open a third high school in this economic environment. Considering the growth in student numbers and the cost of other alternatives, the real question appears to be: how can the Board of Education afford not to build a third high school?

A crisis occurs, a snowstorm is looming and although we are sending messages out to notify our parents, sometimes they just can’t wait for the information to be delivered. To address parents’ need for information on their time, the District 308 emergency information line was created. By dialing 630-636-INFO (4636), parents can receive recorded updates in cases of school closings, weather emergencies, major transportation issues or student safety concerns.
