Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at Oswego East High School.

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at Oswego East High School.
Last year we experienced a variety of changes. Change is difficult and even painful at times
but absolutely a necessity of life. There are only two directions to go; get better or get worse.
We chose to get better.
After a great graduation ceremony and school year finish we took a moment to evaluate our
performances for the 2008-2009 school year. We qualified more students for state competition
than in previous years, we significantly raised our ACT score, we improved our PSAE scores in
every category, and we had more parent and community involvement in all of our building-wide
events. But, most importantly, we made a difference in students’ lives.
All of this takes place because of the collective efforts of students, staff, parents, community
members and administration. I want to thank everyone who plays a role in making our students
successful.
We will use these successes as a starting point for this year. Our goal is to continue to grow
and improve student achievement. We will kick off our school year again with our Community
Rally on Friday, August 21st. Our Band, Choir, Poms and Cheerleaders will perform; we will
recognize our teams and provide escorts for building tours. Meanwhile, several sports will
have their intra-squad scrimmages, including football, volleyball, swimming, and soccer. You
will have the opportunity to see the 2009 version of some of our Wolves in action. Once again
our business partners and school clubs will be in the Commons to showcase their products.
Representatives from our Police and Fire Departments will be on hand to conduct tours of their
equipment and vehicles. This should be a great event and I hope to see many of you here.
We will have many challenges this year as we strive to improve. But, I have confidence that
together we will continue to make positive strides in student achievement. Thank you for all of
your efforts.
The excellence that we strive for at Oswego East High School is a direct result of the collective
and individual efforts of every student, parent and staff member. I continue to urge all of us to
always put forth our very best effort, every time, in every situation. Thank you to all of you as
we continue to make Oswego East a great place to be and a great place to be from.
Looking forward to another successful year at OEHS,
Jeff Craig, Ed.D
Principal of Oswego East High School
