Dr. Jeff Craig, Principal

Jeff Craig became Principal of Oswego East High
School on July 1, 2008. He comes to Oswego with a
variety of administrative experience including
Principal of Rich East High School, in Park Forest,
IL, for four years and the Principal of Central High
School in the Davenport Community School District in
eastern Iowa.
Dr. Craig served in Community High School District
218 as the Assistant Principal for Activities at
Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn, Illinois
and as the Dean of Students for eight (8) years at
Alan B. Shepard High School in Palos Heights,
Illinois. During his nine years, Dr. Craig
successfully implemented a variety of processes and
projects improving the quality of life for students,
parents, and staff. Most notably among his
contributions and accomplishments are the Freshmen
Transition Program, Teacher Academy and Prom
Promise.
Dr. Craig has been deeply involved with the sport of
wrestling for the past 39 years as a competitor,
coach and official. He has officiated at all levels
of state and national competition, organized
tournaments, assisted with the wrestling venue at
world championships and the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta
Georgia.
He received his Doctorate in Education
Administration from the University of Illinois, a
master’s degree in educational leadership from
Loyola University-Chicago and has a bachelor’s
degree in industrial arts from Northern Illinois
University.
He and his wife, Mary, recently purchased a home in
Oswego. They have three adult children.
