Girls Bowling

Girls Bowling Team Wins Sectional, Heads to State!

For the third time in four years the Lady Wolves will be making a trip to Rockford for the State Bowling Tournament.  The Wolves were placed in the hardest sectional in the state and fought back from 41 pins down in the final game to post a tournament high 6133 and became the Sectional Champions.  Each girl finished averaging above 200 with senior Ali Wonders leading the way with a 1253.  Kelsey Johnson and Giselle Poss both finished with a 1227 series and Samantha Donzelli finished with a 1224.  Senior Amanda Karnuth was consistent all day with a 1202.  The girls are excited and ready to take on the rest of the top finishers in the state next weekend at Cherry Lanes in Rockford.

Saturday, January 16

The Lady Wolves finished first at both the Varsity and JV level this past weekend. The Varsity was lead by freshman Giselle Poss and senior Ali Wonders who shoot a 1262 and a 1211 respectively. Oswego East struggled with a season low of an 826 game to start the tournament but ended with a high of an 1127 to finish off the morning. OEHS was down 1 pin to Plainfield South after the morning set and ran away with the tournament in the afternoon. The Junior Varsity level held the lead after the second game and never looked back finishing with a 5178 and winning by more than 250 pins. The Wolves have one tournament left this season prior to the conference championship.

Thursday, January 14

The Wolves meet up with their cross town rival last night at Parkside Lanes to celebrate their seniors last home meet. It was a huge success for the Wolves as they put away the Panthers 3048 to 2756. The Wolves were lead by Senior, Amanda Karnuth who rolled a 643 series with a 226 high game. Junior, Samantha Donzelli and Freshman, Giselle Poss also did their part to see off the seniors with a 622 and a 619 series of their own. At the JV level Freshman, Tricia Thornton help to keep the team’s undefeated record with a series high of 599 and a high game of 256. The Wolves take another step closer to finishing off a tremendous season with only three conference meets left.

Saturday, January 9

The Lady Wolves made a huge push to finish second this past weekend in Sycamore. Oswego East finished 87 pins Rockford Jefferson and 162 pins ahead of United Township. The 2nd Place finish ties for the highest finish for Oswego East at this tournament. Amanda Karnuth finished 3rd individually overall with a 1263 series and Giselle Poss finished 10th individually overall with a 1175 series. The Junior Varsity team finished 4th out of 12 with a 5017. The Junior Varsity team was lead by Samantha Donzelli and Tricia Thornton who finished 7th and 10th overall.

Wednesday, January 6

Both the Varsity and Junior Varsity squads were victorious last night against West Aurora in a dual bowling meet. Despite not having two of our top average varsity players Oswego East still finished with a 2653 and took 8 out 10 points at the Varsity level. The Wolves were lead by junior Kelsey Johnson who shot 21 pins above her average and finished with 591. At the Junior Varsity level sophomore Grace Jacobs shot a career high of a 228 in the first game to help keep the series out of reach. Sophomore Brenda Neid had the team high series of a 565 and the team finished with a series of 2248. The Wolves travel to Plainfield North tonight to start off the SPC competition in 2010.

Saturday, December 19

The Lady Wolves finished second behind SPC rivals Plainfield South this past weekend by 59 pins in the West Aurora Invite. The Wolves shot a 5784 and had four girls finish in the top 20 individually. The Wolves were lead by senior Amanda Karnuth who placed second overall with a 1298 series. Junior Samantha Donzelli finished 4th overall with an 1185 series. Senior Ali Wonders and Freshman Giselle Poss finished 12th and 17th respectfully. The Lady Wolves travel to Reavis for their next tournament Monday the 28th of December. Great job ladies and continue the success.

Thursday, December 17

The Lady Wolves got back on the right track last night against the Spartans from Romeoville by winning at each level and taking all ten points at both levels. The varsity squad posted the 4th highest series in State history with a 3185 and the 12 highest game in State history with an 1108. Freshman Giselle Poss posted a 275 game and a team high 667 series. Kelsey Johnson and Ali Wonders both finished with a 638 and a 635 respectively.

Saturday, December 12

The Lady Wolves finished 5th this past weekend at the biggest tournament of the year. Strikefest has traditionally been an elite group of 44 teams throughout the state of Illinois all in competition with each other. This competition at strikefest is better than the competition at State. The Lady Wolves went into the afternoon session in 2nd place and went down to third place after the 5th game. Unfortunately for the Lady Wolves their 6th game of the day was the lowest for the tournament. Oswego East finished 7 pins behind 4th place and 9 pins behind 3rd place. Minooka finished 2nd place for the tournament just 16 pins ahead of Oswego East. Rockford Jefferson ran away with the title after beating the field by more than 357 pins. The Lady Wolves were lead by senior Ali Wonders who placed 3rd out of 220 bowlers with a 1266 series.

Tuesday, December 8

Oswego East Girls Bowling Team defeated the Lady Redskins of Morris Tuesday night at both the Varsity and Junior Varsity level. The final pin fall at the Varsity level was Oswego East 2982 to Morris 2883. The final pin fall at the Junior Varsity level was Oswego East 2355 to Morris 2084. This brings the Wolves overall dual meet record to 3-0 and 30-0 in points at both levels.

Saturday, December 5

The Lady Wolves continued their winning streak at the Fremd Valhalla Invite this past weekend by taking first place at both the Varsity and Junior Varsity levels. The Varsity finished with a total of 4901 and the Junior Varsity finished with 4194. Four of the Varsity members medaled in the top 15 as well. Those medalists were Ali Wonders (14th), Amanda Karnuth (8th), Kelsey Johnson (6th), and Giselle Poss (3rd). At the Junior Varsity Level all five bowlers medaled. Those medalists were Maggie Brocket (13th), Tricia Thornton (11th), Brenda Neid (7th), Samantha Donzelli (3rd), and Allison Thompson (2nd). Great job on a fantastic performance.

Friday, December 4

In Oswego East first match-up with Plainfield East at the Varsity level, the Wolves defeated the Bangles 2889 to 2374. The Wolves won all 10 possible points on both the Varsity and Junior Varsity level and started the SPC meets off with a bang. Ali Wonders and Amanda Karnuth lead the wolves with a 611 and a 609 series respectively. The Wolves travel to Fremd for their invitational tournament this Saturday. The Wolves are looking to defend their title from a year ago. Congratulations to all the girls and a terrific meet!

Plainfield Central Wildcat Tournament

The Lady Wolves put on a strong performance this weekend as they finished 6th out of 24 teams at the Plainfield Central Wildcat Tournament. The Lady Wolves had an overall pin fall count of 5429. Freshman Giselle Poss lead the team with a 1238 series and finished top 10 overall individually. Juniors Kelsey Johnson and Allison Hoffman also had a very strong performance finishing with a 1169 and 1140 series. Freshman Tricia Thorton finished 4th in the Super Sub competition and bowled a 575 series in the afternoon to help push the Wolves to the 6th position. Great job by all the girls involved and what a promising start to new season.
