Frequently Asked Questions
Q. When is my student
eligible to take driver’s education?
A. If their 16th birthday
falls during the time the class is being offered and
they have passed 2.5 credits the previous two terms.
Q. When can my student get
their permit?
A. The student must be enrolled in a driver
education class and meet the above requirements
before a permit can be issued. The student will need
to fill out an application for the permit and pass
the “Rules of the Road” test prior to the permit
being issued.
Q. Where/When can my
student pick up the test Application materials?
A. There will be an
announcement on East TV 16 at school as to
when/where the application materials will be made
available to the students.
Q. What are the costs
associated with driver’s education at Oswego East
High School?
A. There are two costs
related to driver’s education. The first cost is a
twenty dollar application fee. This fee is for the
permit and is paid to the Secretary of State’s
office with the application. Checks should be made
out to the Illinois Secretary of State. The second
cost is the fee for the class. This cost is a
$150.00 fee. This fee is paid to Oswego East High
School.
Q. If my student lives in
the Oswego School District, but goes to a private
school, how do I enroll my student into driver’s
education classes? When are those classes available?
A. Students going to
private schools are only eligible to take driver
education at Oswego East High School during the
Summer Sessions. They will need to contact
Laura Skeen to be enrolled. They will need to
turn in the following items to the Student Services
Office:

Utility Bills (proof of address in district)
