Welcome to Murphy Junior High School

August 17, 2012

Dear Maverick Families,

The start of school is near. It seems like the night of February 27th when I was approved by the Board of Education as the first principal of Murphy Junior High School was a million years ago. I can say that I have learned a lot in the past four and a half months and I know I have much more to learn.

I hope in that time I have been able to earn your trust. I have worked to communicate the information I know in a timely fashion. I hope that you and your student(s) feel that they have had a role in helping to define the school. I hope that I have been a visible flag bearer for Murphy Junior High School. I hope that I have been accessible to you and been able to respond back to your concerns in a timely fashion.

Now that school is starting, NONE of that changes. We will continue to provide the service you have come to expect. Additionally, will make decisions in the best interests of students and work every day to provide them an exceptional educational experience.

Over the past few months I have met many students and families who make up our school community. I have appreciated every email, visit, phone call and opportunity to interact with Maverick families. I have come to the conclusion that Murphy Junior High has a really exceptional amount of family support. Maverick parents want to see their students succeed but are also interested in ensuring that the school succeeds. We will continue to need that level of support once the school opens. Our success depends on a strong partnership between home and school.

As we kick off the school year here are a few dates to remember:
·         August 20 from 12:30-3:30 is Alternate Schedule Pick Up for anyone who missed the event on August 9
·         August 21 from 6:00-7:30pm is Locker Load, the building will be open so students can drop off school supplies prior to the start of school. It is also a great opportunity to walk your student schedule one more time before the start of school
·         August 22 8am Murphy Junior High opens for the first time.  Look to the sky about 8:05 and you may see red, black and white balloons floating through the air
·         August 29 from 6-8pm is our Curriculum Night

You can expect a weekly communication, The BULLetin, in your email on Thursdays. Please make sure we have a current email address so you can keep current on what is going on at Murphy.

Wishing you and your student a fantastic year,

Brent Anderson
Principal
