Early Learning Center
Welcome to the Long Beach website. Thanks for visiting! I am Phil Murray, and I am staring my first year as principal at Long Beach. I have enjoyed every minute working with such a wonderful and dedicated staff, extremely involved and helpful parents, and some of the best children around!
My background includes attending the College of Du Page and Elmhurst College where I earned my Bachelors Degree. I then earned my Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University. I have been involved in education for over 16 years. I previously taught 7th grade math at West Chicago Middle School, as well as 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math at Winfield Middle School. I served as assistant principal in Winfield for the K-8 setting for 2 years. I then began as assistant principal here in the Oswego School District at Traughber Junior High for 5 years, Bednarcik Junior High for 1, and am in my second year here at Hunt Club.
I have been involved in coaching student athletes for over 23 years! I have coached basketball, baseball, softball, football, track, cross country, and volleyball from 1st grade through high school varsity. I have officiated basketball for the IHSA for the past 25 years. I enjoy many outdoor activities, including golf, playing bean bags, and yard work. I live in Naperville with my wife and two children.
My goal as the principal of Long Beach is to bring together our staff, students, and parents to create the best learning environment possible. When everyone works together for one common goal, the potential is amazing! While the world around us is an ever changing picture, the staff here at Long Beach will continue to create an atmosphere where positive character is expected, hard work from everyone is the norm, and together as a learning team, we will create the best possible experiences for all the students of Long Beach
Mr. Francis has been with the Oswego 308 School District for eight years. This is his first year as the Assistant Principal of Long Beach Elementary School. "I am very excited to be at Long Beach and have enjoyed meeting the outstanding staff. I look forward to working with the students and parents throughout the year."
I spent 6 years teaching 5th and 4th grade students at Old Post Elementary, and was the Assistant Principal at Old Post and Hunt Club for the last two years. I am proud to be a part of District 308 and will do everything I can to support the students and staff of Long Beach Elementary.
I enjoy spending time with my wife Tiffany and son Beckham. We are expecting our second child in late December. I am an avid reader and love the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers!
My name is Sandy Matile, and I am the Attendance Secretary at Long Beach Elementary. This is my thirteenth year at Long Beach. I was also a Teacher's Assistant at Boulder Hill Elementary for three years prior to coming to Long Beach. My husband, Denny, also currently works for the Oswego School District at Transportation as a bus driver. We have three children, two boys and one girl, two of which are married and one that is finishing his schooling at DePaul University after completing a four year stint in the United States Marine Corps. We are excitedly awaiting the birth of our first grandchild who is due this January. I love watching baseball in the summer and am a BIG St. Louis Cardinal fan. I also enjoy watching football and am a Chicago Bears fan. I like to read, ride motorcycles and bicycles. I really enjoy scrapbooking and with a new grandson on the way am looking forward to doing a book for him. I love helping the students at Long Beach when they come into the office and need assistance. If you ever need anything from the office, please stop in and see us and we will do our best to assist you. We have a great group of parents and they help to make our day in the office very enjoyable.
