About the Administration

Christine Smith, Principal
email

My name is Chris Smith and I am excited to begin my first year as principal of Long Beach Elementary School. I am excited to get to know parents, students and families and am looking forward to an exciting year.
I received both my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Illinois State University. I taught first grade for 6 years in Minooka, followed by second grade for 6 years in Seneca. After obtaining my Administrative Certification, I was a principal in Coal City, Clarendon Hills and Rochester MN. I am excited to begin my 12th year as a principal at Long Beach Elementary School.
I currently reside in Morris with my beautiful 2-year old daughter Alaina (Lanie) and my three dogs Gus, Maxine and Emma. I enjoy cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with my daughter, family and friends.
I envision a school as a place in which every parent, teacher, and student strives together for the success of all children. Everyone is a learner and everyone is a teacher. Every element of a school’s philosophy and pedagogy, the content of the curriculum, assessment methods, professional development, and the school’s interactions among all stakeholders should revolve around the concept of creating a community of learners.
Please call or visit me in the office if I can assist you in any way!
