Clubs and Activities
After School Sports This program is designed for fourth and fifth grade students who would like to get involved in team sports, develop their skills, learn basic offensive and defensive strategies, in a competitive, but fun, environment.
Drama Club Drama Club offers opportunities for second grade children to develop acting skills and to express themselves in unique ways. It gives students a chance to role-play, develop and explore their imagination, and be involved in performing in skits and plays.
Fitness Club Fitness Club provides an opportunity for third grade students to participate in cardio-vascular activities such as walking and jogging. Students will also learn how to monitor their heart rate and chart their progress over time.
Honor Choir This activity is open to fourth and fifth grade students who like to sing. Participants learn the mechanics of good singing technique, music reading skills, singing in harmony, and performance sills. All Honor Choirs in the district participate each May in a Choir Music Festival. Additional performances may include Cultural Arts Night and Homestead’s Volunteer Breakfast.
Safety Patrol Fifth graders have the opportunity to volunteer to become a part of Safety Patrol. Students are assigned a responsibility to assist staff members during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. They provide support for our kindergarten and first grade teachers in getting students safely to their dismissal area. They are instrumental in providing a safe environment throughout our building.
Student Council This club is for students in fourth and fifth grade. Two representatives from each classroom are elected by their peers in the fall to serve on Student Council. They assist in several activities throughout the year, as well as plan Spirit Weeks, a food drive, and created a “Welcome Cup” of treats for all substitutes assigned to Homestead. Yearbook Club Students in our Yearbook Club actively work with staff members and PTA to develop our yearbook. Students participate in taking photos and designing the layout and organization of the yearbook. They also sponsor a student contest to design the cover for the yearbook. |
