About the Administration

Patti Decker, Principal

I am originally from LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Go, Badgers!  I received my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 1969. I began my teaching career in 1977 here in District #308 teaching 1st grade at Long Beach Elementary. I remained in the classroom, teaching 2nd – 5th grades at Long Beach and, later, at East View Elementary until Jan. 2000. At that time I moved into administration, serving as the Assistant Principal at East View from 2000-2001, and the Assistant Principal at Fox Chase and Old Post, 2001-2002. I have been at Homestead, as principal, since it opened in the fall of 2002.

I received my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University in 1990.  My Type 75 administrative certification was completed in 2000 from North Central College.

My husband and I moved to Oswego in 1972.  We have 3 grown children - all graduates of Oswego High School - and 6 grandchildren. I spend my free time with them and traveling with my husband.  As a parent, teacher, and administrator, I am very proud to be a part of such an outstanding community and school district

Joan Mundsinger, Assistant Principal

I began my teaching career in Oswego District #308 at East View Elementary in 1995.   I moved as a teacher to Old Post Elementary when it opened in 1997.  I was an assistant principal at Boulder Hill, Long Beach and Old Post elementary schools in District #308.  In 2003 I became the principal at Lakewood Creek Elementary.  I remained there for three years.  However, in early 2006 my husband and I learned that we were expecting triplets.  After being home for a year, I returned last year as the Coordinator for the English Language Learner programs in Oswego.  However, I missed the energy of a school building.  I am extremely excited to be at Homestead as the assistant principal for the 2008-2009 school year.  I look forward to working with students and getting to know a new community of learners.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Aurora University in Elementary Education and my Master’s Degree from North Central College in Educational Administration.

My husband and I live in Oswego with our four children.  We enjoy traveling, outdoor activities and spending time as a family.
