Dear Grande Park Elementary Students and Families,
The countdown to a brand new year is fast approaching! We are looking forward to our fourth year and adding on to the many traditions and memories that have already been started. Our custodial staff worked very hard this summer to make every room and area within the school sparkle and shine like it did in 2007! Our teachers will soon be preparing their rooms but are already excited to meet their new students. Miss Phillips and I are looking forward to a second year together as administrators in the best elementary school around!
The class lists will be posted on the front main doors at 4:00 pm on Thursday, August 19th. We hope you will then join us Monday, August 23rd for our Back to School Bash. The school will be open from 5:00 to 7:00 pm for students to find their classrooms, tour the building, and drop off school supplies. There will be informational tables set up in the gym/cafeteria for parents. Many PTA committees will be present to share upcoming events and the Spirit Wear committee will be selling Grande Park Grizzly apparel and accessories. There will be staff members throughout the building to answer any questions you may have.
The first day of school for first through fifth graders is Wednesday, August 25th. Kindergarten Round-Up is Thursday, August 26th at 9:30 and 1:00. The first day of school for our kindergartners is Friday, August 27th.
Once again, all of our students will be bussed to and from school this year. Information regarding your child’s bus route should be posted soon. If you do choose to provide your own transportation for your child, parent drop-off and pick-up procedures are in place. Parents will need to pull in the front parking lot and follow the curb to door # 1. Our staff will be out there starting at 8:25 to assist students out of their vehicles. All students need to be in their classrooms at 8:40 ready to learn. After school, staff will load students into their cars. Please be patient as we establish these procedures. We also ask that you be consistent in the choice of transportation you choose for your child. Any changes in their normal routine, requires a letter notifying us of the change each time.
Our theme this year is Grande Park Elementary: Catching and Releasing Your Potential. Our staff and PTA are planning exciting activities throughout the school year. Our theme will be addressed in academic areas by having our students (and staff) set goals for the upcoming school year. We encourage everyone to join the PTA and help make a difference in our school. The next PTA meeting will be Tuesday, August 17th at 7:00 PM in our Community Room. Please enter through door #3.
This year our Parent Handbook will be available on our school’s website. Please make sure that you have signed up to receive our weekly News from the Den and our quarterly newsletter, The Grizzly Growl. We encourage everyone to sign up for Communicate 308 on the district’s website to receive information from Grande Park Elementary School on a regular basis.
