School Improvement Plan
Goal 1
Increase Reading Achievement: By 2011, 92% of Fox Chase students in fifth grade will meet or exceed state standards, as measured by the ISAT tests. This goal is based upon growth within the cohort of students that were third graders in spring, 2009.
Goal 2
Increase Writing Achievement: By 2011, 85% of Fox Chase students in fifth grade will meet or exceed state standards, as measured by the 2009 ISAT Test. This goal is based upon growth within the cohort of students that were third graders in spring, 2009.
Goal 3
Continue implementation of Professional Learning Communities: After intervention groups are identified, using a variety of assessment devices, research-based interventions will be provided, either by teachers or by teaching assistants, with regularity and intensity. Grade level teams will meet quarterly to evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions for individual students, using progress-monitoring devices, and adjustments will be made in a timely manner.

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 embraces the CHARACTER COUNTS!sm program and the "Six Pillars of Character" - trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
CHARACTER COUNTS!sm bases its programs and materials on six ethical values that everyone can agree on — values that are not political, religious, or culturally biased.
Strategic Plan Objective
District 308 will engage all members of our partnership to integrate, reinforce, and assess the character traits to address those social issues that negatively impact learning.
Our Plan
Implement a Character Counts Train the Trainers program for community partners.
Investigate and secure supplemental funding resources to support Character Counts Initiatives.
Ensure all Schools are consistently implementing discipline procedures in a manner consistent of six pillars of Character Counts.
