Student Clubs & After School Sports
After School Sports-
All after school sports programs give 4th and 5th grade boys and girls the opportunity to get healthy exercise and work together as a team. The sports offered this year are soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, floor hockey, and flag football.
Book Club-
2nd & 3rd graders read and discuss various book selections and is sponsored by Mrs. Clark.
Chess & Checkers Club-
Students learn chess and checkers basic game play and strategies.
Homework Club-
4th & 5th graders meet after school to have extra assistance with completing homework and is sponsored by Mrs. Bornemann.
Honor Choir-
Fourth and fifth grade students have the option to join Honor Choir. Honor Choir one morning per week for 45 minutes. This music club is mandated by the School District. That means every Elementary School in Oswego District 308 is required to offer this club for at least one semester. Participants learn the mechanics of good singing technique, music reading skills, part-singing in harmony, and how to perform and blend with a musical ensemble. All District Honor Choirs participate each May, in a Combined Choir Music Festival. This event is always an exciting and memorable one! Also, choir members have the chance to keep a T-Shirt and a CD recording from the event. Other performances include Cultural Arts Night, as well as possible other concerts upon the director ’s discretion.
Media Club-
4th and 5th Graders are able to participate in a media club and is sponsored by Mrs. Lofthouse.
Primary Kids Computer Club-
Students are given the opportunity to use school computers to gain knowledge in computer technology. This club is sponsored by Mrs. Huddlestun and Mrs. Wielert.
Safety Patrol Team-
Safety Patrol Team meets at 8AM sharp, once or twice a month in Mrs. Varney's room. We discuss our responsibilities to our school, classmates, classrooms, and ourselves. Our job is to keep Churchill Elementary a safe place for all students during our arrival to and departure from school. Patrols share a position that alternates each month throughout the school year. This club is sponsored by Mrs. Varney.
