A Note From The Principal May 2008
Greetings Mustang Families, May has arrived and will hopefully bring the warmer temperatures and sunshine that we have all been waiting for. Our students and teachers continue to work hard as the end of the school year draws near. MAP testing was conducted during the last two weeks in April and our students are showing tremendous growth. Two of our students were recently honored with the Extraordinary Oswegoan award at a meeting at the Village of Oswego. Jared Fischer and Jack Heiser, both fourth grade students, were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments and volunteer service in the school and community. Congratulations to these two boys for demonstrating character and hard work! Mrs. Julie Devine, one of our third grade teachers, has been nominated for the prestigious Those Who Excel award. This award, presented by the Illinois State Board of Education, annually recognizes and honors people who have made outstanding contributions to education. Congratulations and good luck to Mrs. Devine. Our staff would like to honor all those parents, family members and friends who dedicate their time and energy to volunteering in our school. Their service and dedication to our students and staff will be recognized during a volunteer breakfast hosted by the Churchill staff. The appreciation breakfast will be held Wednesday, May 21st at 8:30 am. During the month of May, we celebrate ALL of the pillars of character: Respect, Caring, Fairness, Trustworthiness, Citizenship, and Responsibility. Our students do a wonderful job at demonstrating these character traits and are recognized throughout the year. We appreciate your continued support at home as we all try to foster and develop these traits in our children. The Home and School Spring Gala is fast approaching. If you have not submitted your response, please do so very soon. It promises to be an evening filled with fun, food and excitement!!
With warmest regards, Christine Laughlin
