August Principal's Message
August 9, 2011
August 2011
Greetings Churchill Families,
I hope this letter finds you all well and rested for another amazing school year! Our custodial staff has been working very hard to make our school sparkle! The teachers have begun getting their rooms ready and are excited to greet their new students.
Our theme this year is based on the children’s book titled, Have You Filled a Bucket Today?: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids. At Churchill School we will all become Bucket Fillers, encouraging positive behavior by expressing kindness, appreciation, and love on a daily basis.
Throughout the school year, we will recognize, teach, and celebrate the six pillars of Character Counts! Feel free to join us for the assemblies listed on the calendar.
August/September-All Pillars
October-Respect, Yellow
November/December-Caring, Red
January-Fairness, Orange
February-Trustworthiness, Blue
March-Citizenship, Purple
April-Responsibility, Green
May/June-All Pillars
We look forward to seeing you on Monday, August 22nd between 5 and 7 pm for our annual "Preview Night." Students will be able to visit their classrooms, drop off school supplies and tour the building. Our Home and School Association will be on hand to share news about volunteer opportunities and upcoming events. We encourage you to join our Home and School Association, which has done so much for our school community in the past six years.
Be sure to visit our website www.oswego308.org/schools/churchill frequently as there is a wealth of information contained there including the Churchill Chatter, Parent Handbook, calendar of events, and news. If you do not have access to the internet and need to receive hard copies of all publications, please contact the office at 630-636-3800 and they will be sent home with your child.
Several changes have occurred in the make up of the Churchill Staff. We welcome all the new Mustangs to our building!
Your student’s classroom teacher and room assignment will now be available to you at the following web address: http://apps.oswego308.org/classassignment. Beginning on Thursday, August 18th you may use this link, type in some basic information about your student and you will be provided with his/her classroom assignment, including his/her classroom number and teacher for the 2011-12 school year. To ensure student safety, class lists will no longer be publicly posted on the front doors of your child’s school building. Individual class lists will be available at Preview Night from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2011. This security enhancement is in response to parent feedback asking that identifiable student information not be posted for viewing by the general public.
On behalf of the Churchill Staff, we look forward to providing a safe and caring learning environment for your child while developing strong and positive partnerships with the Churchill community. Best wishes to all for a happy and successful 2011-2012 school year!
Sincerely,
Tammie Harmon Casey O’Connell
