Aquatics staff consists of professionally
trained coaches. They have access to the most
comprehensive training and certification program
for youth coaches of any sport in the
United States. Certified coaches in
U.S.
Swimming programs possess training and
experience in the physiology and psychology of
adolescent development. Our coaching staff
provides the assurances that the time your
children spend in swimming will be quality time.
Deryl Leubner -
Head Coach
Coach
Deryl began his swimming career at the Oswego
Park District, attempting to follow in his older
brother’s footsteps. During high school, he
competed for the Aurora Sharks, as Oswego did
not have a high school swim team. Swimming under
Bill Schalz, Deryl placed third at the high
school state meet and was a YMCA All-American.
Deryl had an equally successful swimming career
in college. Attending Southern Illinois
University, he helped the team win four
consecutive conference championships and placed
in the top 30 in the country during his first
three years at SIU. A five-time Division I
All-American, he still holds a school record
and maintains several of the top times in school
history. Deryl graduated form SIU in 1993 with a
degree in education and an emphasis on Social
Studies. While at SIU, he also competed for
the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club and the Fort
Lauderdale Swim Team. During this time he was a
multiple national finalist and was on several
national championship teams. He also earned
All-American honors from USA Swimming. In 1992
Deryl competed at the Olympic Trials, but was
unsuccessful in his attempt to make an Olympic
Team. From 1990-1993 he held a world ranking
in the 50 and 100 meters freestyle.
After finishing his competitive career, Deryl
started coaching a small family/board run swim
club in central Florida, Triangle Area Golden
Gators. While coaching this team to several top
ten finishes at the Florida Senior
Championships, he had several Junior National
qualifiers, many Senior Championships and JO
finalists, many high school state qualifiers and
finalists. In 1997 he was lured back to the
Oswegoland area by an opportunity to be on the
coaching staff of the Academy Bullets. During
his time there the Bullets became the first team
from Illinois to win a Junior National
Championship. In 1997 Deryl, with the help of
many dedicated families, started the West
Suburban Dolphins. Eventually swimming out of
the Rush Copley Healthplex, he would coach
swimmers ranging from the novice to the JO
champion. During this time he was also the head
coach of the Boys and Girls team at Oswego High
School. He has coached the Oswego boys and girls
teams to many conference championships and has
had state Qualifiers in almost every year.
Coach
Deryl is a social studies teacher at Oswego East
High School where he works with his wife
Stephanie. They have two daughters, Molly & Ali, and
they currently reside in Oswego.
Jessica Bogie
- Head Age Group Coach - Blue Group (& Advanced
Group on Mondays & Wednesdays)
Coach Jessica started with Delta Aquatics as
the Head Age
Group coach in 2005. She is a graduate of Carthage
College where she majored in Elementary
Education with a minor in Mathematics and swam
at the collegiate level all four years. She
received her Masters in Technology in Education
in 2004 and does website design for clients in
her free time. Jessica currently working on a
Masters in Math Education through IIT while she
also teaches 8th
grade Algebra at Scullen Middle School in
Naperville, IL. While a swimmer for the Joliet
Jets, she was an Illinois State Qualifier and a
YMCA National Qualifier. At Carthage College,
Jessica swam on two Wisconsin Private
championship teams that also placed in the Top 3
of the CCIW all fours years, was a four year
letter winner and elected Co-Captain her senior
year.
Coach Jessica brings over ten years of USA
coaching experience with her; most recently,
five years at Hinsdale Swim Club. Over those
past five years Coach Jessica has had the
opportunity to coach swimmers of abilities
ranging from beginners to the most elite
swimmers in the state. She has coached Illinois
State Champions as well as a National Age Group
Top 16 finisher. She has been an Assistant Coach
for the Mega Zone Meet in August 2003 and she
was also an Assistant Coach for the Elite Camp
held at Northwestern in May 2003 and again in
May 2007. She is also currently serving as the
Team Manager for Team Illinois for both the
Mid-States and Zone meets. Coach Jessica
holds a Level 3 certification with the American Swimming
Coaches Association which places her in the top
15% of all coaches in the US.
Dan Hoefler - Assistant Coach
- Advanced Group (& Blue Group on Tuesdays
& Thursdays)
Coach Dan Hoefler began his swimming
career with the Sullivan Blue Dolphins
at age six. At nine, upon
returning to Chicago, he joined the
Academy Bullets swim club where he swam
until joining the Marmion team in high
school. With Marmion, Dan was part
of a state championship team and won
gold in the 200 Medley
Relay. After high school, he began
coaching with the Eaglebrook Country
Club in Geneva.
Dan attended college at the University
of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
In 2007, he graduated with a degree in
Communications and Philosophy.
After graduation, Dan returned to
Illinois and began coaching with Delta
Aquatics as well as working as a
recruiter for his alma mater. This
will be Dan's second season with Delta.
Megan Nolan - Assistant Coach

Lily Landeros - Assistant Coach - Intermediate
Group
Coach Lily started
coaching with Delta Aquatics in 2004. She
coached for the 2004-2005 year and returned
during the long course season of 2006. She is a
graduate of Northern Illinois University where
she majored in Special Education. She is
currently working on her Masters in Curriculum
and Instruction with an emphasis in English
Language Learners and Bilingual Learners.Lily
is currently a 6th grade support
teacher at Still Middle School in District 204.
Coach Lily began
swimming at the age of 5 at the Chicago Park
District. She swam for the CPD through the age
13. While at CPD she was also a part of the
diving team for 2 years and played water polo
for 3 years and was part of the Speedo Cup Zone
Championships all three years. During her high
school years she swam for Oswego High School
under the coaching of Deryl Leubner. She was
All-Conference 3 years and was captain her
senior year. She also swam for the Oswego Park
District and West Suburban Dolphins out of the
Rush Copley Healthplex.
Aaron
Natonski - Assistant Coach -
Developmental Group
This is Coach Aaron’s first season with Delta
Aquatics and he would like to thank the staff
and current families of the team for welcoming
him. Aaron graduated from North Central College
in Naperville with a B.A. in History and a minor
in education. After teaching high school and
coaching girls swimming at Neuqua Valley Aaron
went to work for Blooming Color/Minuteman Press,
a commercial printing company in St. Charles,
where he currently works today.
Aaron started swimming
before he could walk and hasn’t stopped since.
He swam, played waterpolo and soccer at Neuqua
Valley for high school where he was a team
captain and varsity letter athlete. While
completing his undergraduate degree in history
at North Central College he also swam for one
year competing in his favorite event, the 100
breaststroke. Although his collegiate career
ended after one season Aaron continued to test
himself by completing such endurance events such
as the Benton Harbor Half Ironman and the
Chicago Marathon, which he is currently
preparing to run again in 2009.
Aaron started coaching when he was fifteen for
the Naperville Park District’s Ashbury
Alligators. In 2001, he earned a job at the
Naperville Riptides where he coached the 9/10
age group and assisted at every other level
within the team. During his tenure with the
team he was leading member of the staff that won
five consecutive age group state titles. In
addition to his Napv responsibilities he also
was the head coach for the Brookdale Buccaneers
and the White Eagle Warriors, earning
distinctions within the Naperville Park District
conference. For the 2005 and 2006 high school
seasons he coached the Neuqua Valley girls
junior varsity squad where his team set meet
records, had numerous event winners, and was
undefeated at conference.
Coach Aaron also holds
a Level 3 certification with the American
Swimming Coaches Association which places him in
the top 15% of all coaches in the US.
Bob Sprunger - Assistant Coach
- Advanced, Intermediate & Developmental Groups
Coach Bob began his coaching career a “few”
years ago at Riverside Brookfield where he was
on the swim team and state champion water polo
team, taught swim lessons, was the lesson
supervisor, and pool director. He also coached
the age group team and the boys and girls high
school teams. He was the assistant and head
coach at Triton College. Most recently he
coached at Lincoln Way Swim Association.
He swam at NIU and received his degree in
Exercise Science and is currently attempting to
work on a master’s degree in teaching with an
emphasis on biomechanics. He attends the
Central States Swim Clinic every year to stay
current on training techniques.
Coach Bob runs a lawn aeration business and
works at Target part time.
Coach Bob has participated in the Chicago
Triathlon every year since 1983 along with
several other triathlons and tries to swim in
masters swim meets.
He lives in Plainfield and has two sons Robert
and Asa.
