2012 District 308 Those Who Excel Award honorees: Amy Truemper, Corey Folley and Jana Gorman.
On one night in October, more than 200 of the best and the brightest in Illinois education gathered in Normal, Illinois to be honored by the state’s educational community. District 308 is proud to announce that three of those educators recognized during the 38th Annual State Board of Education’s Those Who Excel Award Program were talented professionals from District 308.
“The high caliber of this year’s recipients is an excellent example of the outstanding human resources in classrooms, schools and districts across the state,” said State Superintendent of Education Christopher A. Koch. “It is an honor and privilege to recognize outstanding Illinois educators, administrators, support personnel and community members who go above and beyond on a daily basis to serve our students.”
Three levels of awards were given to qualifying nominees in six categories: an Award of Excellence, an Award of Merit, or an Award of Recognition.
Of the 70 individuals in the state earning an Award of Merit, District 308 was represented by Bednarcik Junior High School science teacher Amy Truemper.
Additionally, two of the 84 Awards of Recognition in the state were presented to District 308 employees. Corie Folley , guidance counselor at Thompson Junior High School, received the award in the school student support personnel category. In addition, the school district’s benefits secretary, Jana Gorman, received an educational service personnel Award of Recognition.
