July 27, 2012

"I have been fortunate to work for and learn from great administrators throughout my career, and I am excited for the opportunity to join the administrative team at Oswego East," Durbin said.
Durbin has been a member of the District 308 family since 2005 when he was hired as a sixth-grade physical education and social studies teacher at Thompson Junior High School. He has also served the district as a coach for eighth-grade girls basketball at Thompson and an assistant football coach at Oswego East. Prior to his time in District 308, Durbin was employed at Salem Community High School in Salem, Illinois and Roxana Community School District in Roxana, Illinois.
“Another outstanding internal candidate, Mr. Durbin has served the student and parents extremely well at Thompson Junior High School,” said Superintendent Dr. Matthew Wendt. “In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Durbin has served in leadership capacities that have provided District 308 with an opportunity to fill a Dean of Students vacancy with another person of excellence.”
Durbin earned his bachelor’s degree in school health education at Southern Illinois University and his master’s degree in education school leadership from Olivet Nazarene University.
Durbin lives in Aurora with his wife Gillian and three-year-old son Quin.
“After seven years of contributions at Thompson Junior High School, I know the Thompson family will miss him, the Oswego East High School family is excited to have Dan join them as Dean of Student Services,” said Board President William Walsh. “It is always exciting to see people within an organization grow and take on additional responsibilities and positions within our district.”
