Business office and dean vacancies announced

June 26, 2012

A central office administrator and a school building administrator in Oswego Community Unit School District 308 have recently announced their resignations. Angela Smith has resigned her position as the District 308 Director of Business Services as has Oswego East High School Dean Eric Koranda.

On June 25, Plainfield Consolidated Unit School District 202 hired Smith as the district’s assistant superintendent for business and operations. Smith has most recently served District 308 as the director of business services.

"Angie has been an integral partner in our finance and business operations,” said Superintendent Dr. Dan O’Donnell. “Her ability to negotiate lower prices from vendors and find great deals has been critical to balancing our budgets. Her expertise also helped transform our transportation department. Our loss is Plainfield 202's gain and we wish Angie well in this next phase of her career."

Smith joined the district in 2009 as the finance manger before being promoted in 2011 to the director position and assuming responsibilities for the district’s transportation department. Smith is also responsible for the district’s food service, liability insurance and purchasing programs. In addition to her job responsibilities, Smith is also currently serving her second term as a West Aurora School District 129 Board of Education member. Prior to joining District 308, Smith worked in the private sector as a trust and investment officer for Castle Bank. Smith’s resignation is effective June 30.

“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Angie for her assistance, support and dedication to the district over the past three years,” said Board President Bill Walsh. “We wish Angie the best as she transitions to her new role.”

In addition to Smith, Oswego East High School Dean, Eric Koranda has taken an assistant principal position at Fenton Community High School District 100 in Bensenville.

"Eric's steady presence in the halls and at activities at Oswego East will be missed,” O’Donnell said. “Eric had a ready smile and a helping hand for students as a dean at East. We know he will be just as successful in his role as an assistant principal in his new district. We wish him continued success."

Koranda began in District 308 as an Oswego East High School dean in 2007 and also served as the coordinator for the district’s high school F.I.R.S.T. Robotics program. Prior to serving District 308, Koranda worked for six years in J. Sterling Morton High School District 201 at Morton West High School.
