Two junior high administrative vacancies announced

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 will begin the process of filling two upcoming administrative vacancies at the junior high level, following the recent resignations of Plank Junior High School Principal Bryan Buck and Thompson Junior High School Assistant Principal David Kennedy.
On June 13, Community Unit School District 200 hired Bryan Buck as the principal of James Howard Monroe Middle School in Wheaton. Buck has served District 308 as the principal of Plank Junior High School since it opened in 2006.
"We are losing a great, experienced principal in Plank Junior High's Bryan Buck,” said Superintendent Dr. Dan O’Donnell. “Bryan's 13 year tenure is one of the longest and most successful in the district. Bryan's high expectations wrapped in his personable leadership style will be dearly missed. We wish him continued success as he transitions into the Wheaton-Warrenville School District."
Plank Junior High School was the second District 308 school that Buck was asked to open as a principal. In 2001 he was tapped by the district to open Fox Chase Elementary School where he then served five years as its principal. Prior to serving as a principal, Buck was the assistant principal at Long Beach Elementary School for one year after starting in District 308 the prior year as an assistant principal split between Long Beach and Boulder Hill Elementary Schools. Buck came to District 308 from Plainfield School District 202’s Indian Trail Middle School where he taught sixth grade.
In addition to Buck, Thompson Junior High School Assistant Principal David Kennedy will also be leaving District 308 on June 30. Kennedy has been hired to an assistant principal position at Jerling Junior High School in Orland Park School District 135.
"While Dave's tenure was brief as assistant principal at Thompson Junior High, he made a huge impact on our students and their families,” said O’Donnell. “He is a valued member of our administrative team and his expertise will be missed. We wish him well as he continues his administrative career in Orland Park."
Kennedy joined the District 308 administrative team in 2009 when he accepted the Thompson assistant principal position. Prior to his time in District 308, Kennedy was a dean and athletic director at Somonauk High School and a social studies teacher and dean at Plainfield Central High school.
On July 1, current Thompson assistant principal Shannon Lueders will take the helm as the school’s new principal replacing outgoing principal Tracy Murphy. Two new assistant principals will be hired to fill Lueders’ and Kennedy’s vacancies.
